I used to swear by the Wrights Vaporiser where you poured oil in the top and lit the candle underneath. Sadly, they don't make them any more

Olbas oil placed secretly on the bedside table (she won't knowingly have it in the room - don't ask me why).

I think those plug in things are on the list also...... Thanks for that! My youngest is 9, and although I haven't used it for ages (I swear by Vicks), I know I've used it when his ashtma was bad.

Hi
Vicks is really good, there is an equivalent for babies, its called snuffle babe. I used it on all my kids, it was a god send.
I also used carvol capsules, i put it on a bib and tied it to their cot, that was good stuff also.

My mother rarely gave my sister and I cough syrup when we were young. Mostly we were given honey and lemon in warm water for sore throats and coughs, and a bit of children's tylenol for fevers, and Vicks rub to help with congestion.
When I get a cold (just getting over one now) I steam my head with hot water, with some drops of peppermint and eucalyptus oil in it. Clears up the sinuses REALLY quick!
I was watching a show on TV the other day, and a doctor was saying that the saline mixtures for babies noses are the safest and most effective way to clear sinus congestion (in children AND adults). You can now get them in one use squeezy things.
