I read a book a few years ago regarding Chingle Hall near Preston. If I remember correctly a Granada televison presenter ran out screaming (Paul Crone) I think and vowed never to return. Apparently priests used to hide there. I vaguely remember the substance of the book. But when I was at college quite a few years ago a group were going on about staying there, alas they did not. Its just I have not heard of the place for ages and was wondering if anyone on this site had been and visited Chingle Hall or had stayed there overnight.

I've heard lots of conflicting stories about this place. I know people who will swear blue that it's the most haunted building on the face of the earth, and others who will argue it's about as active as a dead cat... ;D No idea myself, as I've never been, but I've heard some good tales and seen some surprising photographs taken on vigils there so who knows eh?

you have to register to read it Oh bugger . I have heard tales of blue flickering lights, chairs moving across the floors of empty rooms, moaning and whirling type draughts tormenting people on vigils. I watched some programme on it years ago and there was something about a fireplace if I remember rightly. Never been but its only 18 or so miles from where I live

The last thing i heard about Chingle Hall was that they have stopped all paranormal investigations there and it is now a private house.................

Lol The book I read stated that they see monks hovering along the floor because the original floor is lower than the one thats there now. Also I think if I remember correctly that the chapel is both RC and C o f E. I bet they stopped the visiting due to Most Haunted and everyone jumping on the bandwagon. Thank you for the replies and the url's. Its only around 40 mins from where I live so I will have to have a drive up one day.

They do still do investigations, but you have to know the right people to get in there;)

I did Chingle hall a few years ago. Was a bloody weird place! Not as active as some would have you believe though, but still a bloody weird place..hearing footsteps above you and seeing shadows pass by the floor boards isnt good at 3am and you and two others only ones in the place!

Especially when you are a big wimp who is scared of the dark, and doesnt have a sceptical bone in their body. ie:EVERTHING is paranormal

im scared of the dark really though, it freaks me out, sets my over active imagination off, id be no good spending a night in a haunted home, or should i say reportedly haunted home, i would literally make myself ill worrying about it. i dont even like walking across the landing to the bathroom in the night i always think someone watching me

When I did an investigation with Kendra, she s*it herself at every little noise. Where as me, I just chilled out.
The sight of Kendra jumping behind Andy and holding onto him tight as a door slammed shut still makes me smile to this day.

:oWhen i do an invo i never get scared, if i hear a noise i go and investigate it (on my own if need be), i like the excitment and expectancy of it all.
