Despite all the crap about homeopathy, i havent ever really found myself coming across it. I see a lot of people with the magnetic bracelets and other alternative crap, but rarely have i ever seen anyone talk about homeopathy or even swear by it.
I think it is very much more American

It is nothing more than something that makes you relax. It is all about natural remedies isn't it? Yet most natural remedies have been shown to make no difference while some do, for instance cranberry juice is good for the urinary system.
I think someone did a piece on what is in that kind of stuff they peddle. For the life of me I can't find the website!
Personally I think that those who practice Reiki stuff too are all rubbish.
Just remembered it was on a site about Bad Homeopathy.

Then there is all the other stuff - Guardian Angels, Psychic Surgery, Crystal healing, Fengbleedin -sooey, fairies on aeroplane wings preventing crashes, orbs. Why do so many people pay to be deluded??

I think people cling to fear. If they were to believe that they and they alone had total control over their lives and what happens to them, then they possibly think that it would be a scarier place to be. As the majority of hardened believers assume sceptics and scientists to be cold hearted, misanthropic, satan lovers. lol

I wonder if there have ever been satan-worshipping scientists?

Homeopathy is about medicine that comes from nature and is better than the chemical stuff. Nothing more nothing less. All the other stuff that they come up with next to it is bulls*it and new age crap.

Homeopathy stuff, well I am not so sure. I have gave it a go but so far so bad. Although I am all for the cranberry juice thing

Exactly, on the Enemies of Reason it showed a 'Dr' prescribing water with a trace of salt in it. The patient would have ingested far more salt naturally that day through food. Why the hell would a trace of it in water be medically good for her?

We'll see who thinks pure water is better than "chemical stuff" when they've got cancer or need to have a limb amputated.

I had some homeopathy about 10 years ago, along with acupuncture. I was given some drops that I put on my tongue for a couple of weeks to get rid of a skin problem on my hands. It worked wonders, and tasted like vodka.
I agree with the relaxing comment, and a lot of the time I do believe that people's problems are psychosymatic. I have a number of aquaintances that are always ill, but it is all in their bloody head. It worked for me, but maybe because I wanted it to!!!
Tasted nicer than antibiotics. I now just go straight to the vodka!!

How could it taste like vodka if it was water..? :S

Skin problems come and go but may be a symptom of something else and using homeopathy instead of seeing a doctor isn't going to help in the long run.

I have to say, that it has not come back in the 10 years but i will not say that it will never come back. I do believe that some of it is definitely a placebo, but if that works then hey, don't knock it! I personally go to a gp first, and did back then too. And the nhs have saved my life on a couple of occasions so I do not in anyway shape or form knock medical science. However, the contraceptive pill caused a lot of problems for me after being on it for 17 years which the nhs did not make me aware of, so we do have to remember that they do not know everything too. Some people create a lot of illness in their heads. I am not saying that they do it on purpose, but I have a sister that is only happy if she is ill or miserable, and for people like that homeopathy whether it actually cures, or just makes people believe they're cured is valuable. As a stress relief I mean, without telling people that they need to reduce their stress. I hope that makes sense

However, the contraceptive pill caused a lot of problems for me after being on it for 17 years which the nhs did not make me aware of, so we do have to remember that they do not know everything too. They don't claim to know everything (which is why science is an ongoing, constantly updating and improving activity). They certainly know a lot more than homeopathy "doctors" though. Real medicine is tested and studied for years before people are allowed to take it, and it continues to be studied and tested after it's made available. I know that homeopathy "works" in the sense that it can alleviate or stop some non-serious symptoms in people who think that the water is "magical" or contains an active ingredient, but if you don't believe in that kind of thing, it's pretty useless. Some people create a lot of illness in their heads. I am not saying that they do it on purpose, but I have a sister that is only happy if she is ill or miserable, and for people like that homeopathy whether it actually cures, or just makes people believe they're cured is valuable. That's like saying you're only hot if you're cold...

What is it then if it is not misery? Pesimist does not seem a strong enough word, but I can't think of anything else to call her except draining. You could be on cloud 9, and then 5 mins talking to her you want to slit your throat!
