The anger is based at so called holy books supposedly written by whichever name you wish to call your god, and used to control the masses.

I went to Sunday school as a child and reading from the bible was a part of attending the service, my first memories of religion, and I have not been controlled by reading it. There are millions of people who attend churches of whichever demoniation who are not controlled by their faith. You cannot tar everyone with the same brush. Its a falsehood to say that reading religious books controls the 'masses'.

Yes Amaris, I would like to think that it is. I can't prove it is but then you can't prove it isn't. Why are you asking?

Yes Amaris, I would like to think that it is. I can't prove it is but then you can't prove it isn't. Why are you asking? Actually if you research it I think you'll find there's a lot of proof showing the Bible to be the work of men not God.

Of course it's the work of men but through God The work of men for their own gain, a work of hearsay and proven that, especially the New Testament, it was votes that decided what would and wouldn't be included. I also have a problem understanding why people believe it to be the word of God when in the Old Testament it is full of God telling people to kill. Is this truly the words inspired by a loving God?

So the quote is saying if God does it it isn't sinful and if we think it is we should redefine sin?? Here are just a couple of things I have a problem with, what about this in 1 Samuel 15:3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. Or that if Lot was such a righteous man to be saved by God, why then did he offer his virgin daughters to be done to as the crowd sees fit! And then later this "just & righteous man" gets so drunk he doesn't realise he's slept with his two daughters & impregnates them. The bible is so obviously written by mere men because only man could write of such cruelty & lust.

The Amalekites apparently were a treacherous people and would attack the Israelites without apparent provocation as they were travelling during the Exodus. They would attack them, not as soldiers would normally do head on, but from the rear where all the women and children were. They often destroyed the Israelites' land after they had planted crops leaving them with nothing. God ordered Saul to destroy the Amalekites more than 300 years after their first attack on Israel. The Amalekites had heard about God and could have repented and changed their ways but they did not and continued to attack other cities up to the time of Saul and David. The Amalekites that Saul and David fought against were just as bad as their ancestors. The revenge was punishment from God on an unrepentant nation. They were given plenty of time to change their ways, but the descendents of the original attackers led the same evil lifestyle and were in some ways worse. God would deal severely with nations who did not follow his word but would often postpone any punishment to give them a chance to change their ways. The Amalekites would not change and were ultimately punished for their sins.
Lot was having a great struggle. We know from other passages that he was a "righteous" person, ". . . Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men." [2 Peter 2:7], and yet he was human and made mistakes in his "Christian walk." The culture he was in gave great honor and protection to guests. And then these guests were "angels" so Lot was under a lot of pressure. Offering his virgin daughters to these wicked, lusting men was not the right thing to do. A man (and Father) is to protect women and children (especially his family), offering his life for theirs. The answer is simple as we look back, all Lot had to do was to trust God for a solution. We saw moments later that the angels had the power to inflict blindness, and then to destroy the whole city--so God did have a solution that would work, and not exposing the two young girls to rape
Lot's daughters had witnessed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah being destroyed by fire and brimstone by God. Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt because of her disobedience. The family then have to live in a cave through fear. Lot's daughters were concerned about the future of their family, got their father drunk and slept with him in order that the family line continued.

Lot's daughters were concerned about the future of their family, got their father drunk and slept with him in order that the family line continued. Hmm, still couldn't God have sorted it out without killing them all? I mean aren't all of us supposed to be his children? He certainly holds a grudge! As for Lot & his daughters, didn't they have faith in God then, that he would solve the problem of the family line continuing without sinning to get their result? I have a belief in a Creator but it certainly doesn't come from a book written by men. The Old Testament is nothing more than a history book, the New Testament with it's story of Jesus is taken from older myths. The so called authors of many of the books from both are being proven not to be who they say. Books added or taken away on the whim of religious leaders. I don't doubt your religious beliefs make you feel happy and that's fine, no offence meant but I'd rather be in the real world.

Perhaps if you start reading The Age Of Reason by Thomas Paine it will show you good reasoning why for instance the first books of the Old Testament are not written by Moses and goes through all the books of the Old Testament & onto the New Testament books. But I will have to look up sources I have read to give you a list of them, just give me a few days to find them.
