Taxi for Joan Roughgarden...
Dear lord she's a poor lecturer! Using the standard old "but you don't get morals from science", and "scientists worship prophets such as Darwin in the same way that religious people worship prophets such as Jesus" arguments.
Very poor stuff! I hope that later religious lecturers are a bit more articulate!

I know what you mean about Joan,I also find her voice is so boring..some people have just the right voice for lectures..some not.

She reminds me of one of the lecturers I had in Cardiff Uni. I forget his name (he was THAT interesting!). But imagine someone with a voice kinda like Roughgarden's trying to teach you all about Stellar Physics, helped out by the use of a 250 page book typed out in the Courier font - i.e. monospaced.
I still can't believe I got 57% in that module... (Pure fluke in that not only was the exam all mathematics - and I could cope with mathematics back then - but each step effectively told you how to answer the question! Great stuff, considering I'd targetted the Stellar Physics module as a fail cos it was just too awkward to learn!)

I'm almost through the lectures now (session 7).
Neil Tyson is a star! ;D
Sam Harris is very articulate and sharp. And I enjoyed Mahzarin Banaji's lecture on cognitive biases/illusions. Too short though. And Ramachandran is always very interesting.
A fabulous set of lectures.

Excellent stuff. I was working my way through DrMontague's YouTube videos of the Christmas Lectures the other day. That will make it a lot easier!
