Approximately I found this www.adherents.com/largecom/com_atheist.htmlWhich gives percentages of atheists against theists around the world. So for the sake of argument, let's say that 50% of the world are really atheists, then approx. half of us are going to be proven wrong. Either way. So in reality.... either the sceptics or the believers are completely wasting their time. But which?

true, If Athiets are wrong and there IS a God we can sit in hell and go "bugger" - but if the religious people are wrong and there is nothing after death they will go *decompose*

I hope you're aware of Pascal's wager.

pascals posit was based on flawed logic though (and imaginary odds), however good his intentions were.

To expand on the Pascal's Wager fallacy, while it's true that if atheists are wrong, we're going to hell, given the number of different religions and schisms within those religions, the actual percentage of people who are going to go to heaven is miniscule! The vast majority of people on the planet will be going to hell.

According to Spiritualism, there is no hell. We all end up in the Spirit World. So don't worry.

I actually like the idea of a hell, what would worry me more is spending eternity in the company of God botherers. "The Lion shall lay down with the lamb" Yeah right, but the lamb ain't going to get a lot of sleep......

Yes but can you imagine if it is true and we become spirits? Imagine the fun you could have haunting people!

Yep, good point, but I think all the people I'd get a kick out of haunting would also be dead, I'd be left with hanging around the Korean Ladies Hockey Teams changing room.... actually this 'Spirit Thing' may be okay......

I don't believe in ghosts.
But if I do ever see one, how would I prove it?
If I spot a new breed of spider in the jungles of South America, I can take photos and even capture the poor little critter. But if ghosts are mostly a mind phenomena, surely they won't appear on film or be recorded on digital media? And I can't stick something non-physical in a bottle.
It's all very well cynics shouting "Proof!!!" at people... and I can totally see it from their point of view.... I personally think that ghosts are imaginary.... and at best are possibly just memories of events played back.... but how can you prove that you saw a ghost? I've seen photos that look like someone just took a drag on their Silk Cut before they took the shot..... I've seen orbs that frankly look like a round ball.... and I am sure there is a technical explanation for orbs and digital cameras.
The WHOLE subject matter of this board and any other board that deals with paranormal, is unprovable either way.
If a medium cannot come up with a name.... they are labelled as crap. If a medium does come up with a name, they are labelled as a hot reader...... catch 22.

If something has not been proven, it seems wise to assume that it does not exist. I would certainly not feel foolish if I had said that I do not believe that something exists (because it has not been proven), only to be shown wrong later.

I don't know that you exist. You are just pixels on my screen. I cannot prove you exist. But because you show intelligence and you are responding to what I am posting...... I believe you exist.

Has any medium actually said "Your [INSERT RELATIVE OR FRIEND HERE]'s full name was [INSERT FULL NAME HERE], [they] lived at [INSERT ADDRESS HERE], [they] died of [INSERT EXACT CAUSE OF DEATH HERE] on [INSERT TIME AND DATE OF DEATH]" to a confirmed stranger? Of course not. When a medium does mention a name, it's normally along the lines of "I'm seeing a P..." or "I'm seeing a John... do you understand that?".
