I've spent a couple of evenings watching the line up of shows on this new channel and while there is a lot of nonsense it is counter balanced by some genuinely refreshing shows that lean heavily toward the skeptical and 'where's the proof' One show called 'Do you believe in the paranormal' went through all the well worn psychic parlour tricks such as Astrology, Palmistry, mediumship etc and tested them, 1st with a practitioner then with a member of the skeptic society performing 'cold reading' the results as you would expect were identical.
I was pleasantly surprised that there were a number of these shows airing on the channel and its a nice counter to the Chuckle brothers Whine and Spirts nonsense. Honestly, who the hell thought it would be a good idea to make a show based around concentrated bulls*it? At least on MH their hysterics and constant attacks by the spirit of Bruce Lee on Carl were watered down. Someone needs to make a compilation video of all the times Carl has been pushed or smacked and play it to the tune of Salt 'n Peppa's Push it.

Hahhaaaaaaa Carl getting shoved endlessly to the tune of "push it " Inspired ...have a karma hehe Fluffet, what are you like? ;D I can feel your excitement coming through your post and it's catching. We've had Most Farted (which is a family favourite by the way). This could be a worthy spin of the MH team. I wish I could think of some more right now. You're right Cgaduck about some of the sceptical stuff. The programme you mentioned is a good hour to watch. The problem is though it has been repeated several times a week and every week since the channel was launched. I said it before I've never known a new channel bombard us with repeats like this and some of the programmes are just plain embarassing. It's shameful really and insulting to think it's okay by the general public. Mind you we may eventually get a few more sceptical programmes. Umm I'll wait and see on that one.

Actually, i too have spent a few nights watching the channel and i must admit i find it rather boring. Not because it's the same old 70's 'school educational' type programmes but because most of it, atleast from what i have seen' does not include the paranormal. I Flicked it over about 20 minutes ago to find two University Professors dicussing a missing 'white horse' that they recently rediscoverd near Chichester. I promptly turned it over. A because i saw it before last month and B because frankly, i don't find it remotely interesting or to do with the paranormal.
Being from a media background i think i can explain the repeats. Channels that have such programmes purchace it from the producers and the production companies and i would happen to guess they might be low on currency. IE they can't afford to get newer programmes in at a regular occurance. I hope it bloody picks up.

Actually, due to the fact it is something to do with Antix, I hope it crashes and burns. To be honest, the fact it is still showing endless repeats of repeats of repeats must mean it still cannot make the move to the next stage of its production. What I think is interesting is that LIVING didn't take up Whines & Spirits. 3 years ago they would have eaten the hand of Antix for this drivel. Just goes to prove how low its got for Yvette and the Shogun in both popularity and programming. Antix have milked the paranormal cash cow for all its worth but its time is almost up...

Probably true but they'll not get rid of Most Haunted Live. Still, the ticker comments at the bottom of the screen are amusing and show just how shallow the gene pool is in paranormal circles

I love reading those and always wonder why people text in their comments. There must surely be two reasons 1. they just want to get their name on TV or 2. they really believe they've just seen an old lady in the corner on webcam 4. I wonder how many are with reason 1?

Have you noticed how it occassionally says something like, only the best messages will be shown. That says it all. I once sent a text of disgust about Karl and Stuart's behaviour (yes I freely paid the £1.50 even though I knew it would never be shown). Julian Clegg reminds us every time how they've had a record number of faxes and texts, etc, sent each time they have a live.
I think crashcat has a point about their cash flow being limited but I've still never known a channel constantly repeat itself like this. It's true as well about all these programmes having nothing to do with the paranormal. I've said before on another thread Living Tv has more paranormal programmes than Antix are airing, shameful.

I read somewhere that Beattie and Fielding invested over a million pounds of their own money in this venture. I'm thinking it may have been a big mistake. I think they have over estimated their popularity on this and constant re-runs of Arthur C Clarke and Michael Aspel's Strange But True aren't going to get them very far. Also, paranormal investigation is a specialist field and Whines and Spirits is surely the worst possible model for this subject. Personally I think they hoped their popularity on Most Haunted would transfer to this channel with their fans catching their old friends in new series. What has happened is they've tried to rehash tired situations which were popular 3 years ago but its all been done. There is only so many times we get entertained by Fester falling over and attacking his mate. There is no serious attempt at discussion, illustration or investigation in the Paranormal Channel. It is simply a lame attempt by Antix to make money in a field where they have virtually no reputation and even less abililty to entertain us. Example...UK History show the World at War and History of Britain. Both awarding winning series with reputable historical analysis, interviews and expert production. Paranormal Channel repeatly show the Monster Club a 1980 movie which features BA Robertson who sang the Scotland 1982 World Cup song. I rest my case.... I could go on forever about this because it is annoying me that this channel is money making tool for Antix. I apologise for my rant....

Has anyone else watched 'The Killer Shrews'? It's a genius film, and will probably be on every night until the channel gets shut down. Without wanting to spoil it for anyone, the shrews are very badly disguised dogs and the hero is a young Roscoe P Coltrane from 'The Dukes of Hazzard' Dire doesn't cover it...

There's nothing like a good rant They make good topics of conversation. I've just got to say I love the Fester bit, have a karma for that one. You're right though, I must admit I'm surprised they invested £1000,000 of their own money, very risky especially when the channel is poor quality. Whines and spirits is going to have competition soon with The Three Screaming Banshees. The problem is brandy1 Y and K believe they are specialists. On the very first Whines and Spirits Karl introduced his buddy Stuart as a paranormal expert. It's wrong and misleading to some people who think they're marvellous. I think The Three Screaming Banshees is a product born from messages they received on the Italy live on how funny Yvette, Cath and Leslie were on their own. Of course I assume this was going to find ghosts (me thinks not) Personally I'd need more than that. That's my bit anyway, from one ranter to another. Steje73: I've not seen The Killer Shrews do you mean it's on the paranormal channel? Sorry I'm just so fed up of the repeats I don't look as much any more.

Oh heck yes it's on the paranormal channel! Where else would you get such quality? ;D That took some saying steje73. Watching the paranormal channel is like a dirty little secret. You only admit to it when forced and never publically. The shame! ;D Thanks anyway I will take a peak sometime (undercover of course)

Look out for 'The Chosen'. ;D Good acting. High production values. Top names. All avoided. What a pile that programme is. Like a satanic Emmerdale!

Well, did you watch the Discovery Channel? Repeats of repeats of repeats. Since I got bored by endlessly seeing the same shows over and over again, I didn't tune in for nearly a year. And what did I get returning? The same episodes of Myth Busters they showed the previous year and that before. So, sadly, it has nothing to do with money, only with bollocking the audience.

Lol, I couldn't get past the adverts, mind you I'm learning how to control my gag reflex. That's got to be good surely. If I was you Jemand I'd give it at least 2 years. At least then you'll have had time to forget a few things so you can fool yourself into believing it's new. I wonder if you could class that as mind control. ;D

It just goes from bad to worse. There was a black & white movie on yesterday that makes me think this channel is a piss-take. If you missed it, don't worry. It'll be repeated continually this week. But much more annoying than this channel is the fact that I've just realised I have series linked Whines & Spirits! I have noticed that this channel does not have its programmes listed in any TV listings site or magazine. They're not doing very well getting themselves noticed are they? But anyway in case you are worried you won't know what's on tonight I will reveal tonights line up: Epitaph, followed by Arthur C Clarke, next Strange But True, then Whines & Spirits or cheap movie and finally cheap documentary Tomorrow see above Day after see above I once saw a Star Trek Next Generation episode where the Enterprise was stuck in a time loop repeating the same scenario until they worked it out and escaped. Beattie and Fielding can only save us from this by pulling the plug.

Problem is if they pull the plug they've got a back up plug hidden so we'll never get rid of it.

Ah this is true, but the paranormal channal has repeats that are direct from the 70's. That is repeats of repeats of repeats of repeats of repeats of repeatsi I could probably say that for the next hour to catch up. At least discovery has SOMETHING from this decade.
