The famous old pier at Weston Super Mare has been destroyed by fire

Its a terrible shame. Wonder if there were any psychics on that peer at the time? You would have thought they would have seen it coming

It's awful, something stands for all those years, only to be destroyed by fire in no time at all.

It's awful, something stands for all those years, only to be destroyed by fire in no time at all. Apparently it was gone in under 2 hours. The Piers Association say it's unlikely it'll ever be fully re-built as it's privately owned and not entitled to a Lottery grant or government aid.

I actually heard a councillor say on the news the chance of it being rebuit is actually quite high.

I hope the Councillor is right crashcat, as too many of these piers are abandoned when something like this happens.
I think it's so sad.

It's a great shame.
I remember going on a Primary School summer trip there. Paddle steamer from Penarth to Weston; coach to Cheddar Gorge, then back to Weston where we were allowed on the pier as a treat from the teacher (it cost him 3d each for us). There were loads and loads of penny machines which were donkeys' years old then.
A great day out.

Just like 9/11, they never thought to tell anyone.... I was then in my youth, piers are great and I have a lot of good memories. But old and dry wood, even a rubbish psychic could probably predict these piers will potentially eventually succumb to fire.

When you click on the link and watch it....you see all the other videos put on there of the same thing. Does it not strike you as a little bit macabre. There is one that videos from their home, getting their keys and locking the door and filming the smoke all the way to the pier. I know it is human nature to watch scenes like this but I surprised how many people then put it on Youtube.

You would have thought they would have seen it coming Nah, that's not how it works Jon. 01: First GOD does his thing and teaches us a valuable lesson (the Pr*ck). 02: Than he remotely controls his Best Psychics and let innocent people pay them for their entertainment.
