How can we talk about an ethereal concept with any validity at all? Comparing the spirit world to an ice cube is no more valid than comparing it to a Japanese Fence Lizard or a box of Mr. Kipling's Almond slices. None of them have any meaning. Well if I could have your soul INky and somehow found a way to contain it,then I could use that rather than a bloody ice cube...But as I dont have, nor doubt if anytime soon going to be able to use someones soul on a physical level..a frigging ice cube will have to do!

I think the point being made was just because you cannot see something don't mean it ain't there. Any of us can look and see with our physical eyes something that is not there...damn I do it every night I see the stars in the sky!

Classic Argument to Ignorance. It's also based on a false analogy. Using a physical example to explain an ethereal concept is not a valid analogy. I'm not disagreeing with you but I wonder how we are to explain an ethereal concept, without some sort of physical analogy, after all, arent are thought processes based on what our senses tell us about the physical world around us? Hun...some people have minds like that ice cube..contained inside a box.. How the human race has evolved I can only wonder with closed minded characters I see on here. ...oh thats right..because some individuals dare to think outside of the box.Thats how we have evolved....If you have nothing tangible to work on as such but are trying to work out possibilities of explanation, you have to use or apply non logical methods sometimes...God that must be scarey for some huh?

Dont bother LR....not worth it matey..anything pasted here is just ripped apart and taken out of any context...if it is posted by anyone other than a sceptic! The strategy to counter this situation is to post things that can't be taken apart by others. Like posting coherent arguments for example. Dso you think I was trying to prove something with my posting Inky? what exactly did you think my reasons were for posting that on here?

Any of us can look and see with our physical eyes something that is not there...damn I do it every night I see the stars in the sky! Erm..... The stars are there. not all the time they aint, some nights its just a clear sky, but that doesnt mean they dont exist, you just cant see them at the time, and yes everyone has a soul its part of our very being !! thats my belief anyway.

It is a nice analogy Kendra and one I also happen to agree with. Just because something is not visible, doesn't mean it is doesn't exist. A rain drop we can see, but the sun comes out and evaporates said raindrop into cloud matter, nonetheless, the raindrop in whatever form always exists. Radio waves cannot be seen but we all know they exist as does the wind. It doesn't prove anything but at least you are trying to make some kinda sense out of it all. I just wish some of the replies were not quite so glib and unintelligent in response.

Just because something is not visible, doesn't mean it is doesn't exist. How about replacing 'see' with 'cannot be detected in any way, shape or form'? Again, we're dealing with a false analogy here. Invisible Pink Unicorns cannot be detected in any way, shape or form. Does that mean that because someone claims that they do exist that we should accept it as a possibility or keep an Open Mind TM on the matter? That is the equivalent analogy here.

no but we know that the rain exists and ice cubes do

exactly shazz and if you out to the attlantic there are plenty of ices there, they drift and melt go back into the seas , the atmosphere come down as rain and form ice elswhere. but just because you dont always see it happen, doesnt mean it hasnt happened or never existed.

Exactly Shazz and well pointed out. If the energy of an ice cube or a rain drop always exists in whatever form, it can be theorised that the energy of a human being or any animal for that matter can also exist in whatever form. Quite simply, our energy / electro magnetic field must exist after death. This CANNOT ever be destroyed because energy cannot be destroyed, this is scientific fact so I think we have something to work on here without proving anything one way or the other.

Of course they will pick holes in the arguement but they cannot disprove anything that has been said. Everyone whether sceptical or otherwise, must accept that energy always exists. This is not open for dispute. What is however is this. We don't know what this energy is and what it consists of. But I like to think in scientific terms. Our thought process and memories are all part of our brain which is made up of electrical impulses and neutrons.Electricity is energy so go figure.

And I accepted the invitation. Not at all, the whole point of debate and reason is to try and solve these problems but the main issue here is that faith and belief by there own definition require no proof, so attempting to prove a faith position by poor analogy is just asking for trouble intellectually and logically. See your first statement in quote number 1. And I gave you my opinion which is obviously different to yours. Not quite sure what you are getting at here, but I can assure you that I respect a mind (like yours) that is eager to solve these theoretical problems than just blindly bleat along with the rest of humanity, but unfortunately if you don't want to be called to book on your theories or logical fallacies then posting them for review is ultimately pointless isn't it? Thats cool, but don't shoot the messenger of rationality and logic in the process.. I had noticed that it does suit me well and is a fair representation of my attitude to psychic pseudo-science babble and irrationality, honestly I only chose that one because the one I wanted to use couldn't be linked/uploaded The human race like all animals on Earth have evolved by the process of Darwinian evolution and natural selection, "thinking outside the box" is a result of this process within the structure of brain. If you have a "theory" of how something works you must test that theory based on the best available evidence and update where new discoveries are made and this is a logical process..not an illogical one. It is simply not feasible to entertain every theory or analogy or you will never actually get anywhere! So If you consider me harsh, unfair or overly critical then I will have to live with it. I would expect the same from anyone if I made similar assumptions.
