Has anyone heard of or had any dealings with this guy Alan Cox ?
www.bbc.co.uk/blackcountry/content/articles/2008/12/09/psychic_healer_feature.shtml
Straight away the alarm bells are ringing and I can feel a Trading Standards complaint coming on at super speed.
In this article from the BBC he claims he has a Dr David Inglis ,a DEAD Dr David Inglis no less , guiding him from “the other side “ .
Cox reckons when he places his hands on peoples body miracles happen .Now he wouldn’t be the first male to make that erroneous claim but Cox’s brand of “ laying on of hands “ could have a potentially more dangerous consequences than disappointment alone .
Darren Yates, a Police PR Officer and fan of Cox’s reckons "He put his hands on my knees and closed his eyes and I felt a warmth. No word of a lie it worked and so far I've had no more trouble. Clearly he has a gift."
Clearly he has warm hands . A bonus for any patient but I’m not convinced good circulation qualifies as “a gift “.
But Mr Yates now warm knee doesn’t concern me as much as this next patients Cox claims to have healed does .
Cancer act anyone ?
Not content with “curing“ Cancer Mr Cox also does a nice sideline in “house clearances“. No not the type where you fill a hire van with some poor unfortunate old dears furniture . The type where as the article describes you “visit haunted buildings to banish away troublesome spirits.” His wife Anne who of course claims to be a psychic gets in on the act here .
I bet she is .And im sure that bit of string with a weight on the end he’s holding isn’t nearly as good at sniffing out troublesome spirits as Cox is at sniffing out a prospective client .
Blood running down the walls ? Really ? Would like to see some evidence of that other than an perhaps an empty ketchup bottle and an over active imagination.Ok I jest but seriously I would like to see more evidence of this particular claim of his as Im sure blood dripping walls would have constituted a photograph opportunity if ever there was one .
Still Cox claims he has plenty of testimonials to his talents .
Lets have a look at some of them then Alan , a quick visit to Mr Cox’s website www.giftedpsychic.co.uk/ should surely provide a look at some of these .
What ? No testimonies ? None of the hundreds of letter from grateful people for our perusal ?
Ok well what does he have to say about his healing then ?
A far more carefully worded bit of blurb than his claims in the BBC article of having cured the woman with terminal stomach Cancer I note .I also note he doesn’t elaborate much on his mysterious spirit guide Dr Inglis , but he does say for £10 he will tell you the name of your own ! Nice little sideline when for all the punter knows he could simply be sitting in his office with a copy of the phone book and a pin.So how did he discover his “gift” ? Well it seems he watched channel fives “House Busters” programme after his wife took a tumble at the hands of an “unseen force “.
So previously he wasn’t troubled with the ability to hear voices in his head and presumably wasn’t too fussed about having a life mission ahead of him till he spoke to Ashworth .Or discovered the market out there waiting to be tapped into with his own newly advised of abilities under his wing .
It would seem David had a plethora of advice and pearls of wisdon to give per his website –
I think the entire inductee list of the Rock and Roll hall of Fame may have a bone to pick with you there David however do continue .
Ok……im starting to understand why Mr Cox started to hear voices in his head.Im starting to hear ones myself saying BS alert.
Dissolve them ? Sounds painful and to be honest just ever so slightly full of itself .
It goes on and on like that for pages and pages …..sheer unadulterated endless ramblings full of nonsensical statements and claptrap. Most telling though and what I think is at the heart of Mr Cox’s and many people like him’s sudden conversion into what they believe is a “gifted being” after speaking to people like David Ashworth is this –
Tell people they are special and different and you instantly have their buy in for most anything you want them to believe .David seems to have cornered the market in special and different and specialises in telling others how special and different they are too .But when that comes at the price of creating endless deluded people who then go on to profess to be able to cure , heal and help vulnerable , frightened and often very ill people there surely has to be a limit to just how special you can feel knowing you are deliberately taking money from them for something you simply cannot prove helps them in anyway .
Anyone out there on BP know more about Ashworth or Cox ?
I don't really have enough time or info on them to do an article justice hence posting this here but would love to know if they have a history BP members might know more of ?

A Wolverhampton psychic claims the spirit of a dead doctor takes over his body – and allows him to administer to those with severe illnesses. Clairvoyant Alan Cox, aged 58, says he has helped people from all over the country recover from a range of illnesses, from simple aches and pains to terminal cancer.
Straight away the alarm bells are ringing and I can feel a Trading Standards complaint coming on at super speed.
In this article from the BBC he claims he has a Dr David Inglis ,a DEAD Dr David Inglis no less , guiding him from “the other side “ .
"I have a doctor – Doctor David Ingles in spirit – who literally takes over my body and uses my hands. "
Cox reckons when he places his hands on peoples body miracles happen .Now he wouldn’t be the first male to make that erroneous claim but Cox’s brand of “ laying on of hands “ could have a potentially more dangerous consequences than disappointment alone .

But Mr Yates now warm knee doesn’t concern me as much as this next patients Cox claims to have healed does .
"One lady in Worcestershire had cancer of the stomach and she had two sessions with me and she had only been given months to live. They couldn't quite explain it at the hospital but she's totally cured now and getting on with her life.”

The type where as the article describes you “visit haunted buildings to banish away troublesome spirits.” His wife Anne who of course claims to be a psychic gets in on the act here .
"Anne is very good at picking up the energy. I use this tool – a dowser – and link up with the spirits and send them into the light.”
I bet she is .And im sure that bit of string with a weight on the end he’s holding isn’t nearly as good at sniffing out troublesome spirits as Cox is at sniffing out a prospective client .
"About three years back we went to a hotel and the manager and manageress were really concerned as guests were having horrible experiences in one of the rooms. There was blood running down the walls; it was a total nightmare. We went in and everything settled down."

"I've got hundreds of letters from grateful people. There have been so many examples where the occupiers were just terrified of what was happening.”

“ Seeing is believing... When conventional medicine or traditional therapy has failed you. Alan can help you heal and find the strength to regain your inner well being.Alan works with his clients to determine where their pain, aches, ailments and such originate from. When healing is given, clients experience an overall 'soothing'. And, iIn most cases, the pain or source of discomfort is reduced greatly with one short session (£30). Though similar in practise spiritual healing is not based on any religion. Spiritual healing is a therapy and spiritualism is a religion. To find out more, and to book a session, contact Alan.

“To cut a long story short, I contacted the programme and spiritualist David Ashworth from the show came down and they did a clearing in our house. We got on really well with David; we just clicked. He told me who my spirit guides were and we had a message from them saying we had a lifetime's work ahead of us. A few days later I had all these messages bombarding my head and it started from there.”
So previously he wasn’t troubled with the ability to hear voices in his head and presumably wasn’t too fussed about having a life mission ahead of him till he spoke to Ashworth .Or discovered the market out there waiting to be tapped into with his own newly advised of abilities under his wing .

It is the only Rock and Roll.
It is the ultimate Rock and Roll.”

To bring ever-increasing Spiritual Light to the People of Earth and the Earth itself
To Progress the Evolution of Spiritual Seekers
To Push the Boundaries of our Gifts and Talents
To Expand our Knowledge and Understanding of Reality
To Share the Knowledge of our Experiences
To Spread the Light of The Emerald Heart

Ok……im starting to understand why Mr Cox started to hear voices in his head.Im starting to hear ones myself saying BS alert.
“David can perceive the specific barriers to the evolution of individuals. Once these barriers to progress have been viewed and understood, it is possible to enter into a process to dissolve them with the understanding of what you are doing and why.”
Dissolve them ? Sounds painful and to be honest just ever so slightly full of itself .
“The knowledge of what is within us and why it is there is something which has almost never been approached in the old eastern philosophies of enlightenment. You sat with the Guru, and waited, often years, until things unfolded, often with little or no instruction or guidance. Working with David is different. He takes the mystery out of The Great Mystery and guides you, one simple but powerful step at a time, into a new reality, unfolding within you a higher perception of who you are and why you are here. At the same time, your natural, hidden gifts and talents begin to emerge as the Light works upon your consciousness. This is True Spiritual Evolution, the steps of which can be seen and perceived regularly, when working on the specifics which hold back your vibration and limit your life.”
It goes on and on like that for pages and pages …..sheer unadulterated endless ramblings full of nonsensical statements and claptrap. Most telling though and what I think is at the heart of Mr Cox’s and many people like him’s sudden conversion into what they believe is a “gifted being” after speaking to people like David Ashworth is this –
“Many people feel that they are here for a reason, but can’t figure out what it is. David was like this. He always knew that he was special and different, but didn’t understand why. He didn’t understand who he was or why he was here.”
