I think shows that use psychics to boost their ratings, and let's face it psychics are ratings winners, need to take some responsibility They are giving them a platform. Just out of interest does anyone know if montel did a follow up show about the Shawne Hornbeck case?

I think that all the media coverage about this is great. It is bringing a very sharp and cynical look at these frauds, and in a country like America where Woo is king it can only help open a few peoples eyes.
It may not be the end of her career, but he has damaged her more than anything else in her history.
Just need Degsie to make the same kind of mistake now

I really wish these type of discussions could be given more air-time. The longer she went on, the weaker Linda Rossi's 'defence' of Sylvia Browne (and Psychics of that ilk) became. The usual tactics - attack the accuser. What has Randi's atheism go to do with it? She said that Sylvia Browne has nothing to prove to Randi -TRUE, BUT SHE DOES HAVE SOMETHING TO PROVE TO THE GULLABLE THAT ARE INCLINED TO FOLLOW HER ''TEACHING'' ETC. Linda Rossi asked who Randi was (as a magician) to criticise Sylvia Browne (or words to that effect). - I'd say WHO THE HELL DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO CRITICISE HER OR ANY OTHER MEDIUM!

I liked the comment that Linda made about Sylvia's work speaking for itself. After this latest debacle, I don't really think that was the most appropriate phrase to say.

"She has nothing to prove!"
Uh. No, you silly silly woman. She has /everything/ to prove, not only to us skeptics, but to the believers who turned to her in their distress only to have everything she has said to be a lie and are outraged. If she is a real psychic, then why is she so afraid to be tested? If her work speaks for itself, then a little test[which she agreed to do] wouldn't be such a drama stirring issue amongst her and her supporters. If she is so 'genuine' what does she have to hide?
Telling someone that they have no right to criticize a 'psychic' is the same as telling me that i cannot criticize a movie because I don't have the right 'qualifications'. Who is she to dictate the rules of who can be critical of Sylvia, and who cannot be? Someone has had their head up Sylvia's rectum for far too long[forgive the metaphore] and cannot see past their own nose.
You just /have/ to love her debating tactics. Personal attacks! Which many know from experience do NOTHING to support your point. Instead they weaken it greatly and make you and the people you're defending look irresponsible and immature.
I would love to have a debate with that woman.
