13 year old cancer patient on run with parents

I just read this story about a 13 yr old bo suffering with Hodgkins' lymphoma, a highly curable cancer who has gone on the run with his parents who prefer alternative therapies to chemotherapy that can help his illness.

What is WRONG with these people?

They should be traced, charged with wilful neglect and the boy treated immediately. Then, (if) when he recovers, the parents should be forced to go on a parenting course, preferably held in the grounds of a children's hospital. They should also sit in on support meetings of parents who have lost children, so that they can see how devastating and heart breaking it is.
