In late 2007 I reported on a story that shocked and disturbed me, the sad tale of Gloria Thomas, a 9 month old baby girl who had chronic eczema. She died needlessly after her ignorant parents treated her with homeopathic remedies instead of real medicine which could have saved her life. She had suffered with her eczema her whole life, and it had slowly destroyed her natural defences, and when she developed an eye infection her body simply couldn't fight it. Even a few hours before her death she could have been saved, but instead her parents used homeopathy. The poor girl died. Now over a year later some justice has been done. Glorias parents have been found guilty of manslaughter by gross criminal negligence. Read More

Poor wee mite didn`t stand a chance really. I suppose at first the parents thought they were doing what they thought was right. They should have realised sooner that what they were doing was not working and gone with their doctors/hospitals advice. This is what happens when people get this dogma that they are right and others are wrong, and will not listen when told otherwise. I hope that others who may hold the same reasoning as these very silly , stupid ,arrogant parents take note of the outcome of this sad case, and when they are sentenced I sincerely hope that the judge throws the book at them.

It really is so sad. At least some form of justice has been done though it will never bring back or be enough to compensate Gloria's life. I would like to think that at least some parents who use unproven "remedies" will think again.

Kendra, you are probably right as dogma is very hard to erase but perhaps those who sit on the fence or are undecided will take note which is something

How awful that Gloria had to suffer like that. That's just so cruel.
