Derek states that a lot of mental hospitals have closed down because they (doctors?) recently "discovered" that mental patients were not actually crazy but were infact speaking to "spirits". I for one would love to hear corroboration from the british medical council on this, otherwise Im calling bulls*it on that one.

Not necessaryly, no one knows for sure if Derek actually suffers from a mental disorder.
Personally, I believe that it is possible to assume that all is an act and part of scheme that he and several others had planned out.
Take his spirit guide sam, for instance, sam is "supposedly" short for masuami. Now spell it backwords it's i am u sam. Or the number of times he has "channeled" a fictitious spirit,(Kreed Kafer, Rik Ediles etc).
He lives in a world of make believe and has covered it up with a flamboyant and charismatic personality that attracts attention away, in some cases, of his fakery.
Have you had a look at the clips of him on Granada Breeze?

I used to watch Derek Acorah on Granada Breeze, and recently had a chance to view some of the video's that have been put on various sites from the Psychic Livetime days, now having re-watched some of them I can't believe that I actually thought he was a good medium, some of the reading were very very poor indeed bordering on laughable.
