Ghosts Of The Asylum - Best Evidence EVER!

Long time lurker here, felt obliged to post something about this.. my partner was watching 'The Ghosts of The Asylum' on the Unexplained Channel, when I noticed something that not only made me laugh, but has turned my GF off of all 'Antix-vision' crap forever - YAY!

This programme claims that Karl Beattie & Geoff Adams are alone investigating an abandoned asylum on their own, and shows them both on with individual cameras doing their 'investigating'. They usually do a bit together, then split up and ‘investigate’ a section solo.

Anyway, I've been subject to weeks upon weeks of the usual bangs, taps, moans, 1 for yes, 2 for no garbage, slamming doors, stones thrown 'activity' and some of it, to be honest has been quite impressive - if you believe the fact they are alone, and in separate areas when this stuff is happening..

HOWEVER, on tonight’s episode in part 3 there is a segment where Geoff is in a stall of toilets and is hearing the usual loud banging, moaning etc, etc - it occasionally split screens to Karl to show you what he was doing (to supposedly prove that they are each alone)...
then it happens.. Geoff comes out of a stall, starts opening the doors of the other stalls and he gets to one, and opens the door on a person, who looks to be trying to squeeze out the camera's view. You don’t see a face, but it’s a torso wearing darkish clothing, and its not a monk/ghost/figure/ which I think is what their only defence could be – basically IMO its Karl or one of his stooges hiding in a stall making the noises – it really is that obvious.
Now, Geoff doesn’t acknowledge this person and turns the camera on his face, waits for a second and then carries on as if it didn’t happen, and the same kind of ‘Activity’ continues. It looks like they forgot to cut it out or something.

I only saw it once, as did my GF, who said it was definitely a person, and stated after about a minute of shock - “everything these people do is bulls*it isn’t it!” – FINALLY SHE GETS IT! Bless her.
I imagine it will be up on YouTube soon enough. I can’t wait to see it again – if its as clear as we remember then it’s good’un. Hilariously bad.

No surprises that these things are manufactured for the camera. MH quickly realised that

a) Ghosts probably don't exist and b) If they did they don't perform on cue for a Tv crew.

I've got Wednesday and Thursdays shows sitting on my Skybox ready to watch tonight. Now I cant wait!!

It would be interesting to see if any of their guests on future '...Great Debate' have the guts to mention this to Karl.

I watched one eipsode of this program and wished that in fact i had slit my wrists with broken glass instead. The claim is 'The most scariest program on tele' I think this should be changed to 'the most bulls*it seen on tele'

Wow, you'd think they'd check their footage before putting it on air. No doubt they'll try to fob it off as a ghost. It's not often you see chav ghosts on tv

To be honest I suspect Geoff Adams didn't see the guy behind the door cus they don't have any light (what we see is the night vision recording).

I gave up watching MH a long, long time ago after it turned into the 'who can scream the loudest and get possessed the most show' but have been interested in these programmes done by Karl Beattie.

What can you say?

I guess they could come out with some tosh about it being some local youth who had broken in to scare them? Or if it was being made under another channel they could say the execs tried to spice things up by planting people in the building Geoff & Karl didn't know about.

Please, please let one of the guests on Beattie's debate show bring it up!!!

I just watched this as a rerun tonight and as a professional film editor myself, it is such a fundemental mistake that it is litrally rock bottom poor. How the hell did that pass? The footage should be watched through as raw footage first to pin point by usuing the cameras time stamp what footage you want to keep and then captured into the editing software (which means watching it a second time)

Then it needs to be edited - which means watching it a third time to place the cuts from scene to scene or from camera to camera. Then it should be watched a fourth time for quality control and continuity. How did that even get through?

On a 'at least' level it should have been watched four or five times. You just can't hire the staff these days.

Just before Saturday's repeat they ran an explanation from Karl Beattie.

Apparently they'd been getting a lot of emails about a ghost being caught on film (no one from here I hope) so he apologised and said it was actually a security guard.

He then listed a couple of other dates when they needed security as they'd had vandals trying to break in whilst they were filming.

What the guard was doing hiding away in the toilet block is anyone's guess.

Hopefully someone with more techno nounce then me made sure they recorded the re-run and can put it up on YouTube.

When you watch the repeat it looks like the guy in the cubicle is trying to pull the door shut and he must have made some noise trying to move out of shot.

I'm surprised that Geoff didn't have a bad brown trouser moment then realise it was security and say something to camera to that effect.

Yes, it would have made viewers doubt everything that had been happening to him in the last 5 minutes but I feel it would have played out for them a darn sight better then what has happened - doubt about ALL the activity they've caught so far.

And wouldn't a security guard be better off patrolling the outside of the building? Maybe he got caught short?
