Deepak Chopra has recently written the article below with his take on the perils of scepticism. I thought it important to share this article for two main reasons. First Chopra has a high profile and following in some circles and secondly the article deeply misrepresents what sceptics and scepticism are about. As is often the case he fails to make the distinction between scepticism and cynicism. www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2009/11/30/chopra113009.DTL

All you need to know about Deepak, is he courts Oprah, writes woo based feel good fluff, and had his ass handed to him by Dawkins in "Enemies of reason".

Carl Sagan on the pale blue dot picture:
Look again at that dot. That's here, that's home, that's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
That's where I get my sense of wonder from. Not Deepak spouting crap about "positive energies"
