I also signed it a couple of weeks ago. Also contacted my MP regarding the EDM thingy. He wrote back to me saying that "The Deputy Speaker has warned Members that EDMs are in danger of losing all credibility as they are being signed indiscriminately. I therefore make it my practice to sign only those on issues which specifically relate to my constituency or with which I have been personally involved."
(Actually, he has written to me with that before.)
But I have sent a couple of emails to friends encouraging them to sign up.
To add. My MP sent me a copy of Jack Straw's reply to his letter, written regarding my original email.
"Mr Roberts is concerned that the current laws are affecting freedom of expression. The Government firmly supports the right of freedom of expression, which is protected by Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. In addition...."
I could go on, but.....
blah blah blah.
