I think we are all nice on here, cannot understand why anyone would/should have reason to complain.

Broad ?
It's a vast expanse of all encompassing broadness , hugely open to personal interpretation and an absolute dream for anyone with even the slightest beef.
The fact that its interpretation and the definitions therein are entirely down to Proboards means that if they feel somethings in violation then so be it.
It's telling that this forum has been going for years without any such problems rearing their head or ever causing an issue so theres no reason why it can't continue that way.
Sad that anyone felt the need to complain to Proboards after all these years with not one problem at all.

Totally agree, Fluffet. Such a shame that the forum's been tarnished.

A mere blip, the only abuse that is ever posted here generally comes from someone who has joined the forum with that intention and is dealt with correctly and swiftly hence there having been no problems in the past.
It's always been made clear here that personal abuse will not be tolerated , valued and evidenced opinion and contribution however is welcomed but sadly there will always be someone out there who will misconstrue any challenge to their behaviour or perceive comments as abuse usually with the exception of their own.

I think it would be very difficult to prove a post was harassing unless it also contained other Prohibited Content. Anyway under British law it must be done twice.
Content that:Depicts excessive violence, contains comments or images that are offensive, abusive, threatening, harassing or menacing, or that incites, encourages or threatens physical harm against another.
I do not think we do Harassing but: (3) It is a defence to show that— (a) his course of conduct was pursued for the purpose of preventing or detecting crime, (That is what we do) (b) his course of conduct was pursued under any enactment or rule of law or to comply with any condition or requirement imposed by any person under any enactment, or (We do that also ie 1938 Cancer Act) (c) the pursuit of his course of conduct was reasonable for the protection of himself or another or for the protection of his or another’s property. (We warn people about Bad Psychics for their protection of his or another’s property/money).
Also under British law Psychics do there thing as entertainment so it could be construed we are art critics. Take the Telegraph today saying a performance is "Wretched Drivel". So we could say without harassing " I watched Psychic X's performance and it was Wretched Drivel.
I think that covers UK law. ProBoards is a US firm so Supreme Court has extended the full protection of the First Amendment to the Internet.
This said I would not condone any post with Content that:Depicts excessive violence, contains comments or images that are offensive, abusive, threatening, or menacing, or that incites, encourages or threatens physical harm against another.

Proboards will have to react to complaints and a stock reminder of rules is easier than an investigation. You would expect them to require actual proof before taking further action or risk having their reputation tarnished though.

If a post is of concern that it may be harassing, could it be put on the closed VIP Member Board first for VIP's to revue?
Maybe you could put existing posts of concern on the closed VIP Member Board so we could debate them so we can understand what harassing means?

If a post is of concern that it may be harassing, could it be put on the closed VIP Member Board first for VIP's to revue? Maybe you could put existing posts of concern on the closed VIP Member Board so we could debate them so we can understand what harassing means? I reckon that most of the regular posters here, if not all, have a sensible working understanding of what constitutes harrassment. Should anyone approach that mark there are plenty of eagle eyed moderators who will step in and quite rightly sort it out. I don't think much would be gained by a debate on the subject as the proboard guidelines are wide enough that you could infer harrassment from most anything. These boards are designed for debate and that will at times get heated, but that's the nature of the subject. I think it's "as we were", but just be aware of situations where somebody shows the tell tale signs of being unable to handle opposition. I think if I was a moderator or admin and spotted such a potential scenario I might save a few screen grabs in case of disappearing posts and the need to refer back should undeserved complaints be laid.

I agree with lucan, we all need to know what specific example they are unhappy about, we can't change what we are not party to.
