BadPsychics.com was a site that existed between 2004 - 2010. It did what no other site had done before, it existed purely to expose. Long before Wikileaks was releasing videos, BadPsychics was releasing leaked video from shows like Most Haunted.
BadPsychics took no prisoners, if you were a fake, then you got exposed. In 6 years BadPsychics exposed hundreds of psychics we took a look at countless paranormal TV shows and exposed the truth behind their claims.
Whether you were a small time peer based psychic, or the biggest name in the industry, you were in the firing line.
BadPsychics can correctly claim to be the worlds first entity to expose Most Haunted and specifically Derek Acorah.
The SNU (Spiritualist National Union) once described BadPsychics as the biggest threat the spiritualist industry had had in over 100 years.
The legend of BadPsychics and its owner Jon Donnis lives on. Still talked about a year after closing down, BadPsychics not only courted controversy, it also broke ground when it came to taking skepticism to the masses.
Where other groups had failed with its high brow superior methods, BadPsychics spoke in simple language, got straight to the point and even had some fun along the way.
BadPsychics existed to do good, and expose the bad. Skepticism at its purest. Altruistic and selfless reporting, respected the world over.
Even psychics like Derek Acorah and Colin Fry (of whom we exposed) apreciated the hard work we did in trying to clean up their own industry, and both of those names have also called for BadPsychics to come back.
For now BadPsychics is dead and gone, its memory lives on, its legacy stands tall.
For those we lost I salute you.
For those that attacked us, I pity you.

The psychic industry right now is on a decline, no new tv shows, no new psychics making a name for themselves.
Perhaps if it all gets going again, new shows, new hysteria, new big name psychic then perhaps we can bring it back, for now though i am happy that the psychic industry is in such a lull

The psychic industry right now is on a decline, no new tv shows, no new psychics making a name for themselves. Perhaps if it all gets going again, new shows, new hysteria, new big name psychic then perhaps we can bring it back, for now though i am happy that the psychic industry is in such a lull With respect I think that the psychic scamming industry is alive and thriving however it has morphed somewhat into something a little bit different. Large criminal networks, smaller criminal groups and individual entrepreneurs are all raking in the cash from victims but mostly with a slightly different spin to that of the traditional psychic / medium. IME the new wave of pseudo-spiritual criminality comes in many disguises but some of the most common scams targeted at vulnerable people include: Ancestor scams: This is very, very nasty indeed. People are informed that the souls of their dead ancestors / loved ones are in torment and unable to cross over. It may be that this causes bad luck to the victim and their progeny. Expensive rituals must be purchased in order to life the bad luck / cure and help the spirits to cross over. Fees for these services can be astronomical. Initial fees may be increased as more expensive rituals are required as the spirits disclose more and more horrors and traumas and the psychic bravely struggles with the forces of evil on the astral plane in order to rescue the souls of the traumatised ancestors. Or something. Indigo / Crystal Children scams: Also very, very nasty. The ones that I'm aware of involve highly organised and sophisticated criminal networks who target young people with autism, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, eating disorders and / or other mental illnesses or learning difficulties. Victims are recruited via meetup groups and social networking websites, however once a few people have been recruited subsequent recruitment happens largely via social contagion. Vulnerable adults are informed that they are not ill, they do not have a disability, they are in fact psychic / indigo children / crystal children / shamans. Victims are encouraged to cease taking their meds and to instead train to develop their psychic / superhuman skills and abilities. once safely isolated from their friends and families victims are put to work as slave labour and or/ coerced into committing all manner of criminal acts by their oppressors. Haunted item scams: Another scam targeted at vulnerable adults, especially those with a history of mental illness. The scammers sell haunted items on ebay or on other websites. These items are just cheap tats but the seller claims they contain the spirits of Djinn, vampires, werewolves, incubus, succubus, etc. Obviously taking anti-psychotic meds interferes with the buyer's ability to connect with whatever spirit is imprisoned in his or her particular piece of tat and so the scammers insist on the victim stopping taking their meds. Paying £200 for a plastic ring is just the start of the scam. The really nasty stuff happens once the victim and the scammer establish a relationship of sorts. Once the victim is compliant and believing of the scammer's magical powers, the scammer exploits the victims in all kinds of ways (see above re ancestor scams). Numerology / astrology scams: fairly straightforward, the scammer invites the victim to provide all kinds of compromising data (e.g. DOB, bank card details, house number, phone number) as these details are needed to create a numerological / astrological forecast. These details are then either used by the scammer or sold to other scammers for the purposes of fraud and identity theft. 2012 scams: there are so many of these that it is overwhelming. Basically victims are told that they have to prepare themselves for some catastrophic event in 2012 and that to do so they need to prepare spiritually and devote themselves to a guru or a strict spiritual path. Obviously material goods are just a distraction and if you are really ready for the big changes you will donate your worldly goods to the scammer's spiritual foundation. Victims end up penniless, without phones or passports usually working insane hours for free in a "spiritual community" (aka a work camp). Maybe this is too much of a diversion from traditional parlour psychics? I suppose I just wanted to make the point that psychic scammers are out there selling woo and hurting people. They are still wolves, but their sheep's clothing has changed a little bit.

mrjohnno
Of course
I remember Jon describing some of those events and if my memory is correct there was a good deal of betrayal involved as well as a lack of respect and recognition for Jon's hard work.
It is very sad, but I think it is par for the course that this is how things go in life especially in relation to subjects like this.
FWIW whenever I see someone being championed as a pioneer of fighting a particular type of cult or scam I understand that there are probably other , less visible, people somewhere in the background who have contributed a lot more than they did but have fewer resources, or who care less about public relations.
