THE SUN IS GONNA EXPLODE!!!! Off the top of my head the sun would need to be 1.4 solar masses for it to go nova (explode). As the Sun runs out of elements to convert the inner core will contract and become a slowly cooling white dwarf. The outer atmosphere will expand and become a red giant engulfing the Earth, boiling off the oceans and generally making every day rather on the hot side. |
