OK, I've had a look and read a couple of Pauls posts on FB. I can fully understand why Paul is upset as the other magician involved has obviously ripped off his routine and is refusing to give credit. What can Paul do about it? Not a lot, the effect was not copyrighted (few magicians can afford the cost) and from a legal stand point he hasn't got a cat in hells chance; he might be able to claim intellectual property theft but i wouldn't hold out much hope. All he can do is draw people's attention to the fact that his routine has been stolen and by whom. Within the magic community the other guy could become an outcast.

It seems strange for a young magician to so blatantly rip off another, when really he should be looking for respect from his peers.
Like you say Paul can do sodall about it, other than raise awareness.

Like you say Paul can do sodall about it, other than raise awareness. It shouldn't happen but it's not so strange. You've only got to look at youtube and see all the 'trick revealed' videos by kids with absolutely no respect for their peers.

Magician makes cash disappear on cheese counter at HarrodsA magician used sleight of hand to make cash disappear while working on the cheese counter at Harrods. Amit Gadhia, 35, had previously worked as an entertainer at the store before moving to the food hall. He used one hand to steal the cash and the other to hide it, Hammersmith Magistrates' Court heard. Gadhia was also caught with a single wrap of cocaine after being confronted by store staff and searched on January 2 this year. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9856914/Magician-makes-cash-disappear-on-cheese-counter-at-Harrods.html

Magicians star talks Mastermind, Come Dine With Me and Derren BrownBEING mates with Derren Brown, having a Saturday night BBC show and winning Mastermind- things are going pretty well for comic/ magician Pete Firman. Pete Firman said himself he has been pretty lucky. The 32-year-old has so far had a career in magic, only having to do a short stint selling cars for his dad. But he said something just clicked for him where magic was concerned. He said: "Everyone had a magic set as a kid- everyone goes through that stage. For me it just sort of stuck." www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/news/10209787.Magicians_star_talks_Mastermind__Come_Dine_With_Me_and_Derren_Brown/

It's an old illusion presented in a new (and novel) way. I quite like it.
