The SNU are probably the most currupt group outside of the Catholic church.
Where is Kendra when we need someone to destroy the SNU

That is not to say that i do not shake my head at some of the more airy fairy comments i hear and see. One example was a forum were a woman wrote saying that her son was seeing spirit, what should she do. Well not post it on a soddin web site but get you kid to the docs Anyway going off on a rant so better stop. [/quote] Just wondering why, in your opinion Lowrider, the woman should be taking her ankle biter to the docs?

The SNU it's self doesnt charge as quackers has said its up to the individual churches and as long as these churches are adhering to the basic guidelines of the SNU, they basically have free reign, and yes nic I do class myself as a spiritualist and the SNU would probably blast me into oblivion for being a paranormal investigater also. Churches charge... the only difference here is the open circle between the churches I have attended and your local one I guess. SNU charge for membership and govern many churches under strict guidelines. Mediums charge the actual churches for attending albeit in the name of travel costs or a fee. Think Ive said enough on charging as I dont want to keep going over the same points. Re: Closed circle, I have been turned away because I will not pay the SNU and sign to the 7 principles but advised on residential courses of around £400 which I appear to be worthy to attend! Can I ask you with an enquiring mind, (please take no offence) if you are a spiritualist why are you investigating the paranormal? A spiritualist has no need to seek proof - the faith is the belief of the continuous existence of the human soul. I find a lot of contradiction amongst the church.. they frown on paranormal investigation yet I see many associated spiritualist mediums accepting payment to attend a groups investigation.

I would prefer to discount any imbalance's in the brain at an early stage before i consider it is " spirit". What i would not do is consider a spiritual forum as my first choice of advice.

I agree with you on the forum not being the first point of call lowrider. I dunno that I'd go whizzing off to the docs that quick with a young child though. I had an imaginary friend or six, and talked to myself loads when I was little...I think it was just cos I was a bit lonely (my parents worked all hours - they kept pubs)...not cos I was unbalanced ... oh yeah...and I don't think I was seeing spirit either Errr...welll.......I hope not ;D

If either of my boys started talking to people who weren't there, I would immediately assume they had imaginary friends. Nothing more mysterious than that.
In fact, they do very often talk to people who aren't there; my eldest has long, involved conversations with Noddy, and my youngest's favourite playmate is an invisible dinosaur.
Now, either the irritating little git with the bell on his hat was originally a real person, who has now died and come back as spirit to haunt my son, or he is imagining it.
Which is why I am pretty sure that any child having long, involved conversations with thin air is neither a budding medium, nor certifiable and it worries me when you get mothers who seem to LEAP upon the possibility that their little darling is special because they see dead people. If only they would get a grip, and realise that ALL children are special by default.

Nic, you asked mama why, if she was a spiritualist she was part of a paranormal investigation group and I am sure no offence will be taken as it is a fair question to ask and one I'm sure many people would like the answer to. I'd like to answer if I may though, not on mama's behalf (she is more than capable.. ) but from the point of view of the co-ordinator of the group. People seem to think that paranormal teams like ours are out to prove/disprove spirit. This isn't the case at all. We set out to go to places where paranormal activity has been reported (or places that we just fancy doing) and try to capture evidence of "strange goings on". These can be noises, strange lights, things moving etc etc. We then try to find logical explanation for these occurances..if we cannot do this we class them as paranormal at this time and then set out to do experiments etc to find a reason. If we still cannot we open it up to people to see if anyone else can explain it. When we are really lucky no-one can explain it and we know we have something interesting but we still do not say it is spirit, that is up to personal belief. So, basically the aim of the group is not to prove spirit and therefore a believer beng involved is not an issue as such. I guess even if spirit is the issue there is a counter argument. Why should a believer do it because they already believe..but, why should a sceptic do it because they don't need proof spirit doesn't exist..I guess everyone is out there tryng to learn a little more, whatever angle they come from.

nic..no offence taken as quackers says it is a fair question.
It doesnt say because I am a spiritulaist that I have to follow everything they say, just the same as with any other religion.
I may believe in spirit and that is my personal choice, and I believed in them long before I turned to spiritualism. I still wont believe that every odd happeniong is down to spirit tho, plus I ask too many questions and if any of the SNU officials were ever to talk to me, I would probably be banned from every SNU church in the land !!
To me spiritualisn isnt just about spirits its a bout our way of life and accepting people, regardless of who or what they are and as for the paranormal side of things, I have always been interested in that too, well for as long as I can remember anyway and as quackers said earlier, paranormal isnt about trying to prove spirit exists, to me is personal and down to a person belief. And if it is proved beyond reasonable doubt one day that spirit does exist..then great but if it is proved they dont I wont be broken hearted either as to me the spirit of a loved one exists as long as we want it too.

Both of you have made some very valid balanced comments re: spiritualism V paranormal investigations. IMO

The problem is here that the majority of people out there have not the foggiest idea what a spiritualist is! The idiots you see ranting on TV are not spiritualists, they are simply individuals reaping the interest in paranormal subjects. If the Christian church was far more open regarding its belief within the spirit world, the same interest would be shown for there religion and services. But because they are all hail and brimstone it terrifies the parishioners, not intrigues them. Many who have an interest within the paranormal realm as such, are interested etc because of an experience of some kind they have had and seek an answer to this event/experience.Who are they going to approach? The Catholics,Muslims?who? The only religion that does not scoff at such things. And before admin jumps in... If this were not so, then why is spirit sightings etc not discussed with your local vicar? Because the individual will either be ridiculed or sent away with 100 Hail Marys. Which is quite ironic considering this is a form of a mantra..oh dear too funny and typical hypocritical bull from the "Established"religions Anyhoo.... Also going back to spiritualism. The SNU"yuk, cough, choke" ARE NOT and NEVER HAVE BEEN the religion. they are A UNIONand like the majority of unions are damned corrupt lying thieving scuzzbuckets. The reason so many mix the SNU up with Spiritualism is because there emblem/logo is splattered everywhere in the churches. Could you imagine someone coming and telling The Catholics"Aye up, you can take that cross off that wall mate, ere stick this logo of our union up there" How very clever, how very manipulative! When you enter a s spiritualist church, you will see the logo of the SNU.....Brainwashing and social conditioning is what that is! Hence why so many think The SNU is Spiritualism the religion, the faith, the belief. The hell it is! And that is because they have a huge strangle hold over the elderly committee members, normally with bullying tactics and god knows what to ensure they keep a grasp of the church deeds...They have two faces..quite literally! The holy than though side(God I feel sick) and the corporate side. You see not many know about the SNU corporate division. This is where the deeds of the churches are kept. This side of the SNU is kept from the public. And infact they are classed legally and have the status of a charity, non profit making at that.lmao Hence the division from the corporate side, as infact this aspect makes huge profits from the buildings etc that they have a strangle hold over.. Sorry I am deviating here... True spiritualists....they not only have the belief in the spirit world, but also the faith. But the thing thats sets spiritualism aside form other religions, is that spiritualists also believe that the spirit world communicate in varying forms to us. That is a belief spiritualists are entitled to uphold without ridicule of any kind!

A sceptic...this is the word/term used to discribe your belief or non belief. This has nothing to do with your personailty or infact what type of an individual you are. Damn I have even heard that sceptics actually have blood and not iced water runing through their veins. Now if thats true (remember this is what I have heard, so you cant quote me on this) but that would mean your actually the same as everyone else on this planet..sceptic or not!

Yes, Kendra, but sometimes us sceptics HAVE to remind believers that we are just like everyone else, and by the same token, so are they. Because believers seem to have the idea that thinking that they talk to dead people, or just BELIEVING that it is possible to talk to dead people, makes them somehow more enlightened and more evolved that sceptics; just better people, somehow. They need reminding that some of us do not NEED to believe in an afterlife to behave.
